Factory Operations Supervisor Job Description

Objectives of the Position

To provide leadership and effectively handle the day to day management of personnel and factory site operations. Facilitate the compliance and achievement of the company's quality objectives for all production and product-related activities.


To ensure that products provided by the company are continuously fit for purpose, consistent and meet both external and internal requirements. This includes statutory/legal compliance, local and international quality standards, customer expectations and those of the Company.


The ideal candidate should be attentive to detail, have strong communication skills and be able to lead a team. They should be able to think critically when making production plans and have a methodical approach to work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all Production processes using appropriate schedules.

  • Ensure cost effective operations and manage waste.

  • Set quality standards in the production processes in line with local and/or international quality standards.

  • Monitor and maintain product standards and implement quality control mechanisms.

  • Work in partnership with other managers and external agencies e.g. UNBS, NEMA, e.t.c. to implement and ensure compliance with procedures, systems and standards related to the quality of operations and products.

  • Participate in all decisions concerning production requirements and resource utilisation.

  • Recruit, supervise and motivate a team of production workers.

  • Review workers’ performance, identify and recommend training needs.

  • Participate in decisions of selection, installation and use of production equipment and machinery

  • Manage and supervise maintenance of all production equipment, machinery, facilities and plant.

  • Liaise with different departments and personnel to enhance Company effectiveness.

Key Behavioural and Skills Expectations

  • One year experience in an FMCG or food industry

  • Keen on detail and product quality

  • Effective planning and prioritisation of work schedules

  • Implementation of systems, Standards, SOPS, related to Quality

  • Technical writing experience (i.e. inspection procedures, final reports, etc.)

  • Computer literacy skills: MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, MS PowerPoint.

  • Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work on cross-functional teams, as well as independently.

  • Commitment to learning and professional development.
